OnePlus won’t be swapping the OnePlus 3’s gorgeous AMOLED display for an LCD panel anytime soon. Following rumors that the change could be made due to supply problems, company co-founder Carl Pei has promised AMOLED is staying “for the foreseeable future.”

OnePlus’ decision to use AMOLED displays, which are considered superior to LCD panels in many ways — especially for mobile devices — might have a downside. According to some reports, OnePlus is having a hard time obtaining enough displays to meet demand.

One rumor suggested the Chinese startup could launch a new OnePlus 3 that uses LCD displays instead, and Pei added fuel to the fire somewhat by posting a cryptic message on the OnePlus forum that reads, “AMOLED > LCD.”

However, Pei has since confirmed on Twitter that AMOLED is going nowhere for now. “OnePlus will be staying with Optic AMOLED displays for the foreseeable future,” reads his tweet. “We’re looking to improve the AMOLED experience over time.”

The fact that OnePlus wants to make its AMOLED displays even greater suggests it will continue to use this technology in the future, so fans shouldn’t have to worry about a switch. Not only will AMOLED panels be available on the OnePlus 3, but also future OnePlus devices.

In another tweet, Pei said, “R&D is actively working to improve Optic AMOLED over future generations.”

So, that settles that.
